Drybase

DRYBASE is an engineered surface waterproof coating with hydrophobic properties, approved by NSF/ANSI Standard 61 for use with potable water. It can be applied by brush or spray to either the positive or negative side of concrete or masonry substrates needing waterproofing. DRYBASE has been tested for over 230 feet of hydrostatic pressure and is suitable for use on horizontal, vertical, and overhead surfaces. While resistant to water and moisture, it allows the structure to breathe by permitting vapor passage.

Features & Benefits

  • Can be applied to the positive or negative side of a substrate to minimize excavation.
  • NSF approved for potable water.
  • Allows vapor to pass through the substrate.
  • Suitable for use on vertical/overhead and horizontal surfaces.

Product Details

  • Pack Size: 10 kg bucket.
  • Coverage:
    • Dampness: 5.5 lbs/yd² (90 ft²/bag per coat).
    • Surface water/seepage: 7.4 lbs/yd² (66 ft²/bag per coat).
    • Water pressure: 11 lbs/yd² (45 ft²/bag per coat).

Technical Data

  • Setting Time: 2 to 4 hours.
  • Compressive Strength (ASTM C109): 28 days – 40 MPa.
  • Flexural Strength (ASTM C348): 28 days – 6.0 MPa.
  • Modulus of Elasticity (ASTM C469): 3.1 x 10⁵ psi (2,137 MPa).

How to Apply

Surface Preparation:

  • Ensure the surface is structurally sound, clean, and free from contaminants, including dirt, oil, curing compounds, and old coatings. New concrete and masonry should be cured for a minimum of 7 days.
  • Remove any active water leaks before applying DRYBASE using CP-MoyaProof Plug.

Mixing:

  • Mix the entire bag of DRYBASE with 2.4L – 2.5L of clean water for brush or trowel applications. For spray applications, use the same water quantity and mix for at least 3 minutes.

Application:

  • Apply DRYBASE from bottom to top, ensuring that all cavities are filled.
  • For a second coat, apply it while the first coat is still “green” (2-4 hours after the first coat).
  • Brush or Trowel: Apply the material well into the substrate, ensuring adhesion and filling any surface defects.
  • Spray: Use a hopper gun with an air pressure of approximately 73 psi and a nozzle diameter of ¼”. Spray the material in a circular motion at a 90º angle to the surface, followed by trowelling or brushing it into the substrate.
  • For best results, ensure proper curing and protection from rain and frost for at least 5 days.

Curing and Protection:

  • Wet cure the applied material for a minimum of 5 days, using wet spraying or covering with polyethylene sheeting, wet burlap, or similar methods.

Areas of Application

  • Structural slabs, swimming pools, foundations & basements, tunnels, dams & water reservoirs, manholes, sewage & water treatment plants.
